Dr Jeffrey Kwong: My name's Jeffrey Kwong. I'm an adult gerontology primary care nurse practitioner and professor at Rutgers University in Newark, New Jersey. And today, as part of my session entitled Preventing HIV Strategies for Primary Care Clinicians, we'll cover and talk about some of the latest information on biomedical prevention strategies to prevent HIV. Specifically, we'll talk about the three FDA-approved medications for pre-exposure prophylaxis for HIV, we'll talk about the role that HIV and primary care providers play in terms of identifying people who may be eligible to receive this much-needed intervention. And we'll talk about ways to assess risk, we'll talk about monitoring patients who decide to choose preexposure prophylaxis, and we'll talk about key strategies that you can use in your practice to help manage and identify patients, to make sure that everyone has access to this critical, important intervention to help end the HIV epidemic.
