You employees need to know that you care about them not just as workers, but also as individuals with their own personal lives. When any employee or their family members are sick, call them at home and check on their condition and make sure they have access to adequate medical care. If someone gets sick in the office, make the call to another colleague and get the employee seen immediately.
Bottom line: Employees who are treated like family become very loyal members of your team.
